Verizon Email Shutdown Shifts Users to AOL

RingPlus News Service Los Angeles, April 11th, 2017 - Customers using Verizon’s email service are about to get a blast from the past. The company is set to shutter its email business and plans to shift those wishing to retain their email address to the free AOL Mail service. Verizon acquired AOL back in 2015 primarily to source content. Users will have their email messages, contacts, and calendars (hopefully smoothly) transferred to AOL. There is currently no set date for the shut down, so those wishing to move to another email host should do so as soon as possible. Verizon plans to release the shut down date at Currently, an “Email service notice” is already available at the specified website and includes more information.

    I'm perhaps one of the few who find this comforting!   I'm an AOL user since dial-up days-- and I actually like it.  I have gotten used to being ribbed about using it, however.  
      At least a new influx of AOL users might lessen the amount of flak I catch......

    As a "content" provider, it's a horribly frustrating presentation.  The email service is fine..
