Moto G4 Play on Freedompop. Can I have both GSM and CDMA ?

I currently carry two phones with Freedompop service.  I primarily use the CDMA phone.  I use the GSM phone whenever I have no CDMA service.  To get around the two phone issue, I would like to have a single phone (Moto G4 Play) with both GSM and CDMA Freedompop service.  I understand that both networks can't operate at the same time and that I would have to manually switch between CDMA and GSM.  Is anyone doing something like this?  If so, could you provide some basic guidance on how to do so?

Just swap the sims.  You might need to reboot or the phone might reboot for you.  I've done it using other phones.  You'll need to make sure you have the right apn the first time round but after that it should switch automatically.

It was my hope that both SIMS could be in the phone at the same time, and through some setting changes and a reboot, networks could be switched. Is this not possible?

No.  Maybe you could try one of those cheap chinese dual sim adapters but I doubt it.
